When you first saw Apple’s latest Macbook Air, you might think that it’s good, but there is only one USBType-C interface, and it’s troublesome to output video through wireless mode. If there is a Type-C solution that allows the USB3.1 connector to have both a USB signal and a video signal, would you use it in your product?

Here comes the Pericom Semiconductor Corporation recently announced that it has launched the industry's first Type-C overall solution that supports USB3.1Gen1 and alternative mode DisplayPort1.2a.

By cooperating with multiple chipset suppliers, Pericom is currently supporting many of its cooperation projects with several leading original equipment manufacturers (OEM), involving laptops, smartphones, tablets, docking stations and surveillance Applications.

Pericom's new PI3USB30532 solution provides a 6×4 differential crossover signal converter with minimal insertion loss and crosstalk. It can support alternative mode conversion, which allows 5GbpsUSB3.1Gen1 and 5.4GbpsDisplayPortDP1.2a signals to pass through a Type-C connector.

Key features of PericomPI3USB30532

6x4 differential channel crossover signal converter: higher integration, which includes both high-speed and low-speed crossover converters

Support up to 5.4Gbps data rate: support the conversion of USB3.1Gen1 signal and DisplayPortDP1.2a signal in the same converter

Low insertion loss: -1.2dB@5Gbps-the smallest attenuation achievable through the converter

Low crosstalk: -38dB@5Gbps

Very high 3dB bandwidth at 6Gbps

For USB3.1Gen1 and DP1.2a, as low as 10ps in-position offset

Low active power: 1mW

Small package: 40TQFN (3x6mm)

Pericom's Type-C overall solution provides crossover converter, USB3.0ReDriver (1V, 1.2V, 1.8V and 3.3V), DisplayPort1.2ReDriver, charging controller and USB3.1Gen1 and Gen2 multiplex signal conversion.
